meet the founders

In the beginning

In the beginning, there were two people, a dusty subaru, and a craving for adventure. It was 2017, and life was measured in miles, road trips, and nights under the stars.

We’re Harry and Ness—partners in life, adventure, and now, in Wolf Bear Collective.

You might not have heard much about us before. That’s because we’ve always preferred the open road to the spotlight. No big PR campaigns, no corporate nonsense—just a love for the wild, the gear to take us there, and a stubborn refusal to do things any way but the right way.

So here’s the real story of how—and more importantly, why—it all began.

The campfire that changed everything

2017. Wombeyan Caves. We’d spent the day hiking through the limestone cliffs, exploring deep into the wilderness, and by the time the sun had set, we were wiped. Fire crackling, fingers thawing out from a freezing dip in the river, beers in hand—one of those moments where everything just feels right.

And then, clarity hit.

The wild places we loved were under threat and we wanted to create gear that was built for the long haul. We knew we weren’t the first to ask these questions. Some absolute greats had tread this path before us, creating brands that truly stood the test of time. That legacy inspired us to push even further, to build something that lasts and respects the wild places that fuel adventure.

We started asking ourselves—what if outdoor gear was made to last a lifetime? We had this list we called the 'it would be cool if...?' list, scribbled down on a torn piece of paper.

It would be cool if...
✔️ Companies offered lifetime guarantees, standing by their gear no matter what.
✔️ Brands had buy-back programs to repair, repurpose, or recycle old gear instead of letting it go to waste.
✔️ Every decision kept the wild at the forefront—because protecting the places we explore should always come first.
✔️ Longevity mattered more than profits, with quality over quantity every single time.

That became our mission: Make gear that’s tough, timeless, and built for adventure. Keep it simple. Keep it real. Keep the wild first.

That night, under a sky full of stars, Wolf Bear Collective was born.

Before there was a brand, there were the tattoos

Ness and I weren’t trying to start a company—we just loved the wild and thought getting a wolf and a bear tattooed on us was a pretty solid idea. And honestly? It was.

For us, those tattoos meant something bigger. They were a reminder to run wild, protect what matters, and embrace the untamed. Plus, they looked pretty cool.

So when we decided to start making gear, the name was obvious. Wolf Bear Collective isn’t just a brand—it’s a way of life. It’s about making gear that actually lasts, keeping the wild at the heart of everything we do, and doing things the right way, not the easy way.

The first stitch

No investors. No shiny HQ. Just a second-hand screen-printing press, a stack of old tees, and a wild idea.

For the first 2 years, our backyard became a makeshift print shop. Printing whenever we got the chance, making a ton of mistakes and learning along the way, hands covered in ink. Every tee, every stitch, every mistake was part of the journey.

We’d work long into the night, the smell of ink thick in the air, our dog Koda curled up next to us. Some nights, we weren’t sure if we were onto something or just completely mad.

But slowly, word spread. People started resonating with what we were doing. Not just selling gear, but creating a movement.

Now, Wolf Bear Collective is bigger than we ever imagined. But at its core? It’s still the same as it was on day one.

We make hardy adventure gear that’s built to last, and we stand behind every stitch.

The journey: Highs, lows, and everything In between

Building something from scratch is never easy. There were days when we questioned everything—when designs didn’t turn out right, when orders were delayed, when it felt like we were fighting an uphill battle.

But then there were the moments that made it all worth it.

The first time we saw a stranger wearing one of our tees in the wild. The messages from customers telling us our gear had been with them on epic hikes, road trips, surf missions. The realisation that we weren’t just making clothes—we were helping people tell their own adventure stories.

The road has been long, and we’ve learned a few things along the way:

✔️ You don’t need all the answers to get started. Just take the first step.
✔️ Mistakes are inevitable. Learn from them, move on, and keep going.
✔️ Passion is everything. If you believe in what you’re building, others will too.

The mission: Rewilding™ fashion

We have definitely found that a big part of the rag trade is broken. Cheap, mass-produced gear that falls apart after a few wears and ends up in landfill. We wanted no part of that.

Instead, we built something different:

Gear that lasts. Wear it for a lifetime, not a season.
Fits made for movement. No gimmicks. No trends. Just real, durable adventure wear.
Sustainability at its core. No empty promises—just real impact.

The world doesn’t need more throw away clothes. It needs better gear. And that’s what we’re here to create.

Where we are now

The journey has been wild. From backyard print sessions to outfitting adventurers across the globe. It hasn’t been easy—long nights, mistakes, market tents blowing away in the wind—but that’s all part of the ride.

We’ve built this brand the hard way, with our own hands, driven by a simple truth: the best gear is the kind you never have to replace.

The adventure’s just getting started, and we’re stoked to have you along for the ride.
